FISHEYE LENS SHOTS: SKATING

Recently took the fisheye back out to use, testing out angles to get some nice shots, also starting to record using it too, So I may be uploading clips onto my YouTube channel within the summer, be sure to Subscribe to my YouTube channel beforehand so you can get notified when I start releasing skating videos.

At this point I saw how blurry the people were and knew that I had to put my shutter speed to the max it could, like 1/4000.

After changing the shutter speed the skaters are much more focused, sharper and the image doesn't look bad, the ISO may be up by a lot but I think my camera may handle it well, unless then ISO wasn't all the way up then there we go.

Some people don't like this, but I do, the way the lens flare sort of captures your attention and then points you into the direction of the intended subject, being his shoe.
Of course this wasn't something I focused on getting, it was just random of how it came out.

I love this photo too as it sort of shows some action taking place in two places at once, first of all the skater on the right (Owen) is walking away from where he was, maybe just after failing a trick or something, he is catching my eye with the brightly coloured tee he is wearing and then the lines of the skatepark direct me towards the skater on the left (Rowan) which is taking some huge air up the flatbank.
He is also silhouetted which makes it look much better.

Thanks a lot for viewing my blog and reading it, I want to see if people are enjoying the posts I put, let me know on Twitter or just share the blog if you want, thanks for the support to my local friends that have been sharing too.

Personal Experience and basic review of my Opteka 6.5mm f/3.5 Fisheye lens For Canon.

Personal Experience and basic review of my Opteka 6.5mm f/3.5 Fisheye lens For Canon.

I purchased this lens from amazon.

You can also buy it to fit Nikon and Sony cameras.
I had this camera in December and only recently started to use, it was sitting in my cupboard for ages and when I took my camera out to get some shots I only took my default kit lens and I'm really glad I used my fisheye because it was a different experience and all types of shots I got were fascinating. I posted some of the fisheye shots onto one of my posts the other day.
http://streetshots-ds.blogspot.co.uk/2016/02/fisheye-lens-testing-shots-skating.html
To get the shots I had, the camera had to be pretty close to the skater, which is pretty scary seeing as this lens is new and any bail could've broke the lens if the board happened to hit it.
A few test shots resulted in the skater being too far away and then the skater being too close, finding the right distance and angle turned out to look nice.
If you make the angle capture the floor and the sky then it over exaggerates the height of the object the skater is gapping.

Maybe this isn't the best angle it could potentially get, I think the ledge looked bigger than it was.
Being slightly taller than my kneecap, looking at the right side of this image it feels as though it's a lot bigger. Some other shots had me closer to the lens to make everything look bigger, or for the shot to just look nicer overall.

I feel like I could get much nicer shots as I didn't take any of these as I'm the one skating, although I did test with angles and do some other pictures, I will definitely be using this lens much more and not leaving it in my cupboard to collect dust. I also ollied up this ledge too, if you wanna see the video my mate put up then click the link and give her a thumbs up and support her channel by Subscribing, if you like my skating posts then you'll like the content she has to put out in the future.

In my opinion, the lens is very useful to get different shots from it, it can be used to experiment and play about with some shots, and it can also be very useful for recording skate videos. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone that isn't taking photos of skating as I don't see any point in it being used for anything else.
Here's a few videos i recommend to watch if you're ever thinking of buying this lens or a fisheye lens in general, whether you're a skater or not it may be useful, although I don't think fisheyes should be used for many things, people can still buy them to experiment, though.

These videos should show the potential of the lens and also give you a choice whether you want to get one or not, I recommend them but only if you're using them for skating.

I've also made a Tumblr Blog page too, it's not me posting anything that I do on here, it's just to promote my page across different social medias but I will be posting some images on there time to time, and also re-sharing some of my favourite images that I find across tumblr, I could give shout outs on there too if you ask!

Fisheye Lens testing shots (SKATING)

Today has been the last day of my holidays, and what's better than skating from 9am onwards?
I got up really early to skate as much as I could and this also benefited me by getting me ready for waking up early for college tomorrow, although I am really dreading it.

Today I got to finally try out my Opteka 6.5mm fisheye lens that I had for Christmas.
The shots came out pretty cool, making things look slightly higher than they are, you also have to be really close to the lens to look big in it though, and to stand out which is why a photo of me going down a ledge had to be really close to me, which was dodgy but the photos were pretty fun to look at.

The lens is good, you have to get pretty close for some things though which I've stated, I'll hopefully get a lot of filming down with this lens which will be really cool, which I'll add to my YouTube channel, I made vlogs on there months and months ago but stopped as I wouldn't be able to keep up with them due to college, if you wanna check them out feel free.

Nature Pics

In one post, I showed some nature pictures that I took ages ago, as I have been busy all day and last night due too, shall we say, partying.
Then I've decided to show the nature pictures now and will have some other photos up tomorrow from what I managed to take, every time I plan to take photos I never do, it just happens.

Here's the link for the post I've referred too, the first image was of the sun, I was walking up a mountain with one of my friends which I actually vlogged too while taking pictures.
Here's a link to the vlog of the same day and time.

These pictures have always seemed weird to me, as some photos never do justice as people may say, and I guess the sky was exactly how the camera captured it but it felt much more better being there. To just sit on top of a mountain at sunset and just seeing all these colours of blue, red, orange and white. The clouds look really cool too.

Sorry for not keeping it street related but there will be a rare post now and again with something with a different genre. As the last 2 days I've not been home, but I have taken some pictures which I will show tomorrow, I think I've had about 3 hours sleep since monday morning and its now wednesday early morning so I really need some sleep. Thanks!

Old Skating pics

I've been looking through some of the photos I took last year, and these are when I first started getting photos of people skating, by looking at these I think I can see a difference in the photos I take now which are on my blog somewhere. I think I've started framing slightly differently compared to my new ones, in my new ones I seem to get the whole body in and either have the skater centre or off-centre. Either way my older ones in this post are slightly tilted for me not concentrating on keeping it level or their hands are out of the frame which really bugs me.

If there were no people in the background then it would have looked better, I should have experimented with different angles at the time.

This must have been the time where I first started using my camera properly, nothing is level and seems like a poor attempt haha.

I like this picture although his hand is out of frame and it really annoys me as it leads your eye out of the shot. I've taken many other photos at these steps and continue to get slightly better with angles and framing, referring back to this post... http://streetshots-ds.blogspot.co.uk/2016/02/a-few-of-my-best-photos-from-my-third.html ... I have framed the skater quite well and have good distance away from, I like the linked photo more than this one.
I like this one, the lights are quite distracting but photo shopping them would work and it wouldn't look as if the picture has been tampered with. If you're wondering what the boy in the background is doing ( Owen ) then he's holding a torch coming from his phone because my camera couldn't focus but when he put the torch on I could just about focus and then capture the image with flash on.
The bike tire in this shot is distracting and really annoying. Although I think I got the timing sort of right.

His arm leaves the frame and sends the eye off the image, and I think it would have looked nicer if I got more of a low angle and faced more up instead of just standing in the bowl.
